New publications

Posted on September 17, 2026September 17, 2026 by Aneta Skalec

We are pleased to announce the publication of two new open-access studies produced within the framework of the Ptolemaic Pathyris Project.

The first publication, by Aneta Skalec, “The 1909–1910 Gebelein Manuscript Inventory (Inventario Manoscritto): Archival Data from the M.A.I. Excavations”, has appeared in the Journal of Open Archaeology Data. The article presents and contextualises the archival Inventario Manoscritto compiled during the 1909–1910 excavations conducted by the Missione Archeologica Italiana (M.A.I.) at Gebelein, making this important historical source more accessible to researchers and providing a valuable contribution to the study of the site’s excavation history.  https://doi.org/10.5334/joad.220

The second publication, by Łukasz M. Suski, “Na(h)omsesis – przykład przedsiębiorczej kobiety na peryferiach Egiptu ptolemejskiego” (“Na(h)omsesis: An Example of an Entrepreneurial Woman on the Periphery of Ptolemaic Egypt”), explores the activities of a remarkable woman attested in the documentary record of Pathyris and offers new insights into female agency and economic activity in Ptolemaic Egypt. https://zenodo.org/records/22673569

Both publications are freely available in open access and reflect the project’s commitment to making research results accessible to the widest possible audience.

We warmly congratulate the authors and invite all interested readers to explore these new contributions to the study of Ptolemaic Egypt and the history of Pathyris.

This research is part of the project No. 2022/45/P/HS3/01807 co-funded by the National Science Centre and the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 945339.
